Exploring an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Poop with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and enthusiasts have encountered numerous interesting independent titles. However, one stands out for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled platformer lets you play a protagonist that is actually a turd attempting to navigate to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

Player controls is easy to grasp: just use a jump control. In numerous levels, encounter tough enemies and unlock a store to acquire outfits for your poop character.

Time your actions precisely, as a mistake requires starting over. Leap using floating orbs to propel yourself higher, navigate crumbling platforms, and interact with triggers to unlock hidden paths. Collect coins to purchase tougher game content as gameplay ramps up.

Graphically, the game features neon level designs and an amazing soundtrack. The simple graphics featuring moving basic polygons could recall players of classic titles like Earthbound.

Even though difficult to name other games where you are a dung character, gaming often featured fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, you can create grenades from character waste. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as plant food. And of course, fecal references shows up heavily in Obsidian's adventure The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already garnered notable accolades, such as taking top honors at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. A playable preview is ready currently on Steam, with the full game set to launch on computers this November.
